Another Customer Success Story
"Explore converted our concept of a custom purchasing workbench into a reality. This concept allows us to compile several hundred requisitions from 55 locations across the country and consolidate purchase orders to suppliers by “ship to” location. Our requested design of a zip code overlay reduced our logistical costs as well. Explore did an amazing job in managing the project requirements and dramatically enhanced NetSuite’s out-of-the-box functionality. Explore was available & responsive to our needs and delivered a large project in a short timeframe."
- Larry Carls, Vice President-Procurement/Strategic Sourcing, ITS Technologies and Logistics

Customer Spotlight: Smashbox |
Davis Factor and Dean Factor, great-grandsons of Hollywood cosmetics legend Max Factor, founded Smashbox Studios in 1991. The enterprise expanded to include a photo studio, modeling agency, production company, clothing line, and, in 1999, a cosmetics line called Smashbox Cosmetics. The cosmetic line was sold to Estée Lauder this year who liked Smashbox's digital and social media presence. Two years ago, Smashbox chose Explore when they needed a company with solid NetSuite expertise to redesign and implement their NetSuite powered website. Smashbox has continued working with Explore Consulting on ecommerce initiatives, most recently a Store Locator.
Explore’s Store Locator utilizes Google Maps in allowing their online visitors to search for retail stores, and references vendor records in NetSuite. The Smashbox Locator also supports international searching. The solution is a Suitelet page hosted in their NetSuite account that is pulled in via an iFrame. All store locations are geo-coded (converted to Latitude/Longitude) within NetSuite via a script that communicates with the Google Maps API.

"I’m glad we can share the same enthusiasm for Smashbox’s e-commerce opportunities, it means a lot and makes working with your team a pleasure while making my job a heck of a lot more fun and exciting! Looking forward to more in 2010!"
Luigi Raffo, Senior Manager, E-Commerce Development & Operations SMASHBOX COSMETICS

Purchasing Consolidation for NetSuite
Background:
ITS Technologies and Logistics is a leading provider of intermodal terminal services, including but not limited to lift equipment maintenance, trailer and chassis maintenance, etc. The company handles over 5 million lifts per year and operates over 55 facilities across the United States and Mexico.
Employees at each location often need to order parts to do their job so they have been given the ability to submit purchase requests. With over 18,000 items and over 2000 vendors to choose from, it can be difficult for all employees to know which vendor and/or price would be best suited for any requested item. The knowledge would be overwhelming and the process would be inefficient for ITS.
To streamline the process of requesting items, employees have been given the ability to create requests without having to specify a vendor or price. Instead, the final decision rests with the Corporate Purchasing Department. The Corporate Purchasing Department is responsible for analyzing all purchase requests, finalizing the most appropriate vendor and price, consolidating requested items by vendor and location and finally creating the purchase orders that are sent to the vendors.
To help streamline this process, ITS engaged Explore Consulting to develop a custom application that makes it easier to select the best vendor and pricing, create consolidated purchase orders and leverage their domain expertise and established supplier relationships.
Read the full case study detailing how Explore Consulting helped ITS automate and consolidate purchase requisitions from over 55 locations into a purchasing workbench solution, allowing the buyers to consolidate multiple purchase requisitions into one supplier purchase order with the same “ship to” location. NetSuite Newsletter Tips
Each month we will provide our NetSuite customers with tips on how to use the product more efficiently and how to perform complex or unintuitive tasks. We hope that you find these tips helpful.
Inline HTML Fields for on-page Instructions
Many companies have complex or specific requirements around processing orders, creating customers, or completing other daily business tasks in their NetSuite account. While external documentation serves as a useful reference, often times it is more helpful to have instructions visible to the user while they are in the process of completing the particular tasks.
NetSuite has created a custom field type called Inline HTML. This custom field type allows users to create a custom field for any record type that will display content on the page for the user while they are interacting with the form. This content can be very helpful in providing instructions, descriptions, or other reference information. Just about anything that can be done with basic HTML can be done with this field.
Example: The business wants to ensure users select the appropriate value from a list of options to Categorize a new lead, because the Lead Routing rules have been configured around this field as a key trigger. Once the user has categorized the Lead, there are three very specific steps they need to follow to make sure the sales process can continue as quickly as possible. These instructions can be presented to the user using an Inline HTML field.
1. Navigate to Setup > Customization > Entity Fields > New
2. Give this field a name, check the “Customer” box so it will display on Lead records,
and set the field to display on the appropriate subtab;
3. In the Type field, choose “Inline HTML;”
4. On the Validation & Defaulting subtab, enter your HTML into the Default Value field;

When a user navigates to the form, they will now be presented with the very detailed instructions in a way that stands out from the rest of the page:
