GigaPan Systems - Automated License Key Generation for NetSuite Background GigaPan Systems makes unique camera mounts that allow users to take gigapixel panoramic pictures using most point and shoot digital cameras. The company sells a package which includes both physical hardware (the camera mount) and their stitching software, the combination of which enables users to take incredibly high-quality and high-resolution pictures. Issue: GigaPan’s product required the combination of their camera mount and the Stitching software. The purchase of the camera mount entitled the user to two license keys for installation of the stitching software. Any additional copies of the software would have to be purchased from GigaPan. The license keys needed to be tied to the specific serial number of the device sold in order to work properly. Complicating matters, customers could purchase the GigaPan solution through a variety of sources. This meant GigaPan would not always know the serial number of the device sold to the customer, or that a device was sold to the customer in the first place. GigaPan, therefore, required a solution that would allow for the automated distribution of license keys to customers; that would tie the distributed license key to the serial number of the product the customer had purchased; and that would provide validation and audit capabilities to prevent fraud. NetSuite Tips
 Each month we will provide our NetSuite customers with tips on how to use the product more efficiently and how to perform complex or unintuitive tasks. We hope that you find these tips helpful. Adding Custom Categories & Links to Standard NetSuite Tabs NetSuite’s “tab” browsing provides an intuitive organization of data for users. Customers, Transactions, CRM Records, and configuration options are all intuitively grouped within an appropriately named tab, with different groupings for different Roles and Centers. With the release of NetSuite’s version 2010.2, users can now add their own Categories and Links directly into the standard NetSuite tabs, allowing for a seamless integration of base functionality and custom elements within the same intuitive interface. For example, I may want to give my Sales Team access to a series tools such as links to external resources, saved searches, or other valuable resources. Rather than configuring dashboards, these links can be added directly to the Customers tab in the Sales Center.
